I am a British translator and researcher, specializing in academic texts; I also teach several courses in translation at Aix-Marseille University, near my home in France.
My translations appear in leading journals in the domains of nuclear engineering, social sciences, musicology, history and linguistics, and have been published in the six-volume book series 'Convents in Exile 1600-1800' (London: Pickering & Chatto, 2012-13), ed. Bowden. I proof read [EN-EN] the DE-EN translation of Peppercorn's book on the musical style of Villa-Lobos (London: Kahn & Averill, 1991), and have translated and copy edited books, journal articles, and grant and job applications for individual musicians, artists and scholars in many countries. I have also worked on EU-funded projects and for prestigious organizations such as the Royal School of Church Music (France), the Croquet Association, Accueil des villes francaises, OREE and MEF Cotentin.
Well educated and cultured (MA, PhD), and a widely published academic author, I have excellent writing and research skills. I hold the Diploma in Translation [EQF Level 7] from the Chartered Institute of Linguists, of which I am a Full Member, and I bring to my translation work 35 years of experience in music and the arts, and in social and hard sciences. My translation and proof reading work includes texts in the fields of sociology, ethnography, genealogy, music, history, education, tourism, visual and plastic arts, linguistics, graphic design, industrial metalworking, nuclear and renewable energies.
A detailed CV of my qualifications and experience can be downloaded from my Traduguide homepage.
"Amanda Haste provided not only efficient translations of historical documents accurately and punctually (even providing some translations before their due date) but her own knowledge of the cultural and historical context of these documents allowed for a more sensitive rendering of the text. She was professional and a pleasure to work with."
Dr Carmen M. Mangion (Lecturer, Birkbeck, University of London)
