Career / Experience

I have been a sworn interpreter-translator in French Polynesia since 1990 after some experience as a press and radio translator in Tahiti (Radio Te Reo O Tefana). My background ranges from the translation of personal official certificates, diplomas, car documents, medical and surgical reports, overseas body transfer documents, to any kinds of corporate contracts, memoranda, articles of association or agreements, either financial or technical or involving both financial and technical aspects. I am the translator of large public and private corporations in Tahiti such as Lan Chile Airline, Air Tahiti Nui, Air Tahiti, OPT (phone services only provider), EDT (Tahitian sole electricity provider), Papeete Port Authority, etc. As a translator appointed by the Appellate Court of Papeete, I often have to translate subpoenas, court orders and I have already worked on post-mortem examination reports. In addition I act as an official chartered interpreter at Court hearings in English or Spanish.

Apart from these activities, I teach English in Lycée Polyvalent de Taaone, one of the largest three senior comprehensive highschools in French Polynesia.

I am also a free-lance tour-guide and as such I quite frequently take French, English and Spanish-speaking visitors on tours across or around our tropical South Pacific islands.

My diplomas:

ESCP (1970) (Ecole Supérieure de Commerce et d'Administration des Entreprises de Paris) This is the management business school attended by both Mr Jean-Pierre Raffarin, former Prime Minister of France (ESCP 1972) and Mr Michel Barnier, ex- French Foreign Minister (ESCP 1972) and current Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries in François Fillon-led government, who were in their first year at the ESCP (Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris) while I was in my third and last curriculum year in this famous French business school (one of the most renowned along with HEC and ESSEC).

I was awarded a Bachelor's degree in Spanish (Paris X - Nanterre University 1980), a Bachelor Degree in English (University of French Polynesia - 1994) and a Master's degree in English (University of French Polynesia - Outumaoro - 1995).

I was also awarded the Diploma of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Paris (1978).

In 1993, I passed the so-called English CAPES (a competitive examination giving way to teaching in the French Public Educational Sector).

My hobbies: scuba-diving (I am an instructor), flying (I am currently taking lessons on a Cessna 172 at the "Les Ailes du Fenua" flying school at Faa'a Airport) and photography (I am an advanced hobbyist photographer specializing in aviation and naval photography and many of my photos can be viewed on-line and freely downloaded on the following websites provided that my copyrights are not disregarded):

Translation of an official document (with certification seal and signature): US $ 50 per page (a page is 350 words).

Other translations: US $ 40 to 45 per page.

Interpreting: US $ 100 - 120 per hour.
