Working as a freelance translator and proof-reader on part-time basis (from English to Maltese) and proofreader (in the Maltese Language). Provided translation service to various companies both locally based (Maltacom plc; The Faculty of Education at the University of Malta; The Foundation for Educational Services) and abroad (Atlas Copco Construction Tools AB in Sweden). The amount of words translated exceeds the 100,000. Topics for translation vary: mechanical engineering; education; telecommunications; chemistry; etc..

Considering my experience as a translator from English into Maltese and as a proof-reader in Maltese, together with my first class degree in the Maltese Language, my diploma in translation studies (pass with distinction) and my Master’s in translation studies (pass with distinction), I believe I can reach your high expectations in translating material from English to Maltese. I was also offered a full time employment post as a translator with the European Parliament, which I had to refuse due to family medical reasons. RATES 2007


1. Translation:
• €80 per 1000 words (€0.08 per word)
• Minimum fee €36

2. Proof-Reading only:
• €2.33 per page (A4 size maximum 500 words)
• Minimum fee Lm5 (€11.65)

3. Revising:
• €36 per hour
• Minimum fee €36

4. General Information
• Any translation job is exempted from VAT. Thus no VAT is charged.
• A VAT receipt is issued upon payment.
• Payment has to be effected by one month after delivery of work.
• The above rates apply for the year 2007.
• 3% discount apply for translations above 3000 words (This does not apply if source-text is considered technical or highly technical).
• 3% discount apply for proofreading above 6 A4 pages.

5. Extra Charges

• Whenever a translation is requested within 24 hrs or over the week-end, a surcharge of 25% over final fee is applicable. Minimum fee €24.
• If the material handed for proof reading or revising is requested within 24 hrs or over the week-end, a surcharge of €24 over the final fee is applicable.
