As you could anticipate from my slogan I have a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences/Pharmacology from the University of Florence, Italy, but I also have a Professional Certificate in Historic Preservation from Goucher College in Baltimore, MD, USA.
It was indeed while doing research in cardiovascular pharmacology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, that I developed my interest in planning, urban history, architecture and sociology. A paradox, for somebody who grew up in Florence!
My "so called career" continued in the scientific field at Cornell University Medical College in Manhattan, while, previously, I had been working in the Laboratory of Molecular Biophysics of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences at Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
All of this to say that I do not have any specific and formal professional training in the field of translations and interpreting and I do not even dare to compete with the many good expert professionals I see here.
Yet, writing and publishing papers in my non-native language, with attention to details as well as proofreading have been an important part of my daily work, as well as patient decoding of technical manuals for medical machinery, spectrometers, computer-aided devices and computer software for data analysis.
In this, coupled with my eclectic cultural background and fields of interest (classical studies, Latin, ancient Greek in my High School), could indeed reside my strengths.
Pricing / Other services
Being perfectly aware that I am quite new to the field of professional translating, I would like to offer appropriate good low prices. They could be:
Rates:
0.03 € / source word - translation
0.015 € / source word - proofreading
Depending, of course, on the volume, difficulty and deadline.
Also, depending on how quickly and whether a gain in self-confidence might determine their prompt increase. So, somehow, rush, while supplies last!
