After graduating in 1989 I worked as a parttime terminological researcher for Euroterm, an agency doing research for Eurodicautom, the EU terminology bank in Brussels. During that same period I worked as a freelance translator till I found work as a secretary for two international organisations: the Maastricht School of Management (MSM) and UNU/Intech (United Nations University for New Technologies). During the last couple of years, before emigrating to Spain, I was working for the Dutch police as a Callcenter Agent helping foreign people who didn’t speak the language (mostly French or German speaking) with translations and interpretations.
I’m living in Olvera in the Cádiz province in Spain since March 17th, 2006. I work here as a translator/interpreter/representant for mostly English and Dutch people who have bought a house in this region and who need assistance in reforming their houses, site management, applying for and/or translating official documentation, interpreting, etc.
I also give classes in basic Spanish..
Tools/working method
PC Phoenix BusinessPro, Intel Core 2 Quad Processor
ADSL connection, 6 MB
Microsoft Office 2007, Wordfast Pro
Translation/interpreting experience
More than 10 years as a freelance translator.
Subjects ranging from legal, economical to medical, technical and general (tourism, ads etc.).
Although I don't have any specific accreditation iin German, I've so far done many German-Dutch translations, always with very positive results. I grew up close to the German border and during primary and secondary education, German always was compulsory. Therefore my working knowledge of German is the same as my other languages.
Around 5 years as freelance interpreter, nowadays mostly English-Spanish/Spanish-English. Subjects are usually legal, medical, construction/building and general.
