Websites, brochures, case studies, folders, desk-drops, dunning letters, mailings, slogans, user manuals: every country has its own culture; to succeed in the Dutch market you need expertise and first-hand knowledge of both Dutch culture and customs - so why not ask a Dutchman? Before embarking on the path to become a professional translator, I worked on behalf of a number of blue chip businesses and in a variety of office based roles, both in Ireland and in The Netherlands.

Regardless of the discipline in which I worked - credit management, banking, sales or customer service, it was my ability to communicate effectively - in Dutch, in English and in German - verbally and in writing - which helped oil the wheels and ensured the smooth running of our various offices on both sides of the Channel.

If and when a CAT-tool is required I can deliver translations in several packages (Across, SDLx Lite and Wordfast Anywhere), thus ensuring that the best possible solution and translation memory is on the table. If so desired I can be consulted about a wide variety of translation-related topics. This can be very brief, for example on how to locate a translator in a language combination other than English<>Dutch or German>Dutch, of fairly elaborate, such as a translation strategy for a new venture or a new market approach.    Pricing / Other services

I operate on the basis of offering my services per project. Each project can be submitted to my email address theobernards.com@googlemail.com, please include the word count and the ultimate delivery date if you do. A (representative sample of the) text to be translated will speed up the pricing process.

Typical pricing for a text of a thousand words is EUR 110 or the equivalent of that amount in other currencies, based on the source text and the target text in MS Word. I offer a discount of 5% to 15% to fellow language professionals and translation agencies. Surcharges apply for non-editable documents and for conversions of such documents, any other assignment not measurable in word count will come to EUR 45 per hour or the equivalent of that rate in other currencies.

I am not accredited, neither am I a sworn translator. I can assist in finding an accredited or sworn translator in almost any language combination by making my network available to you. The fee for this service depends on both the language combination and on if you want me to handle the assignment as a consultant.
