PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
- August 2008 – current day. Editorial manager of the English language newspaper the Euro Weekly News. My daily work consists of directing and coordinating a team of between 7 and ten people, correcting and editing their work, finding images for the articles and deciding their placement in the five editions of the newspaper. I am used to complying with strict deadlines, being flexible and taking important decisions at critical times. I supervise and am fully responsible for the content and appearance of the newspapers and have to work closely with other teams. I am directly responsible for employing the members of my team, both those that work in the head office and those that work as freelancers. I also write a weekly column for the newspaper called Lost in Translation, which deals with relationships between British and Spanish cultures and other subjects.
- Subeditor, reporter, writer and translator at the English language newspaper, The Euro Weekly News, from November. My job currently involves interviewing people, attending press conferences and other events, taking photos and writing articles. I also contact the newspaper’s clients, by phone, e-mail and in person to write and check editorial content to promote their businesses. I translate press releases and other articles from Spanish to English to print in the newspaper. I use my own initiative to find and research matters that will be of interest to our readers. I also revise and correct text written by other writers and reporters and help in the general set-up of the newspaper, as well as carrying out several other tasks within the company. I am in charge of one person, but my job also includes organising and transmitting orders to other employees.

My normal rates for texts where the use of CAT tools such as TRADOS is not applicable is between 0.06 and 0.08 euros.
Pricing / Other services
I am TRULY bilingual at all levels in English and Spanish and am used to writing, reading and speaking French on a regular basis. I have many years experience as a translator and interpreter even before finishing my degree in Translation and Interpretation at Malaga University in 2005.
The quality of my translations is generally considered to be above average and I will not take on any project I am not confident I can complete to a high standard.
Currently working full time as editorial manager of an English Language Newspaper covering the whole of Spain. Mainly looking for small translation projects.
