Career Summary:
Linguist, translator, editor, proofreader and subtitler
More than 35 years of experience in above mentioned capacities. During this time
period I have completed variety of projects including learning materials. I have
broadcasting experience as well, which I got during my regular job in Pakistan
Broadcasting Corporation.

Qualification:
 M.A Urdu Language and Literature.
 M.A Political Science.

Technical Courses:
 Two years translation training at Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation.
 Attended 8 training sessions of Avant Assessment, an American company for
producing Urdu and west Punjabi learning materials.
 Completed 2 training courses of National Foreign Language Center (NFLC) of
the University of Maryland regarding creation of Urdu and West Punjabi
learning materials.

Professional Background (Urdu):
. 1982 – 1985 Worked in various Newspapers including a leading daily ‘JANG
INTERNATIONAL’ as Translator and Sub Editor.
. 1985 – 2013 Joined General News Room of Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation as
News Translator-cum-Announcer and translated hundreds of millions of words
from English into Urdu
In 2003, promoted as Editor Urdu (translation in charge). At this job, I had to
supervise work of 5 to 8 Sub Editors & translators at a time daily. During this
period, I had read national news bulletins as well.
. 1993 – 2011 As a part time job, I had provided editing and translation service to
the American Embassy in Pakistan for its monthly magazine ‘Khabr‐0‐Nazar’.
. 2000 – 2008 As a part time job, I had provided editing and translation service to
UN Information Center (UNIC) and UN agencies in Pakistan and edited and
translated millions of words of various UN reports, magazines, special
publications, broachers etc.
. 2005 – to date Providing online editing, translation and subtitling service to
various agencies around the world, specially based in USA, Canada, China, India,
UK, Italy,Netherland etc. and translated and edited millions of words up till now.
. 2009 – 2011 Worked online for Avant Assessment (an American Company) as
Urdu and West Punjabi Language Expert and created learning lessons of both
languages.
. 2011– 2023 Providing services as Urdu, West Punjabi and Saraiki languages
consultant to NFLC, Maryland University, USA.
Professional background (Punjabi):
 Overview of the 2009 Annual Report of the U.S. Commission on
International Religious Freedom, translation into Punjabi (759 words)
 A booklet ‘The Communities Study: helping build stronger communities’
translation into Punjabi (8,670 words).
 Written few short stories for a Punjabi literary Magazine ‘Punjabi Adab’.
 Interview of a chest cancer patient Punjabi into English (4,230 words)
 Court witness statement into Punjabi (1260 words)
 Completed two projects of creating West Punjabi learning lessons for an
AmericanCompany, Avant Assessment.
 Completed a West Punjabi project for NFLC, Maryland University, USA.
Professional background (Saraiki):
 Edited and translated few Saraiki bulletins during job in Pakistan Broadcasting
Corporation.
 Translated an English novel ‘Shahbano the daughter of wind’ into Saraiki.
 Translated few short stories from Urdu into Saraiki.
 Translated UN Human Rights into Saraiki for UN Information Center (UNIC)’s
website.
 Provided service as Saraiki language consultant to NFLC, Maryland University,
USA for its Saraiki project.
