Career / Experience

I am a relative new-comer in the formal translating field and have successfully translated 2 Dutch recipe books into English. My colleague was satisfied with the quality of the work done. Furthermore, I am familiar with the Dutch language and have two and a half years formal study with Dutch and English being my majors toward a teaching degree. Being fluent in both English and Afrikaans has been extremely beneficial in being able to translate projects from both Dutch and Flemish into English.

I am also fairly familiar with web design as I have designed a relatively simple web site for my husband's furniture / cabinetry business which can be viewed at www.alcorn.co.za

Furthermore, I am reasonably comfortable in the computer, accounting, architectural, construction and educational fields as I have had dealings in all of them during my 27 years of employment.

I have been considered a conscientious and diligent worker. My innate curiosity in needing to understand everything within my field, has led me to learn a multitude of varying skills which has stood me in good stead in many job opportunities.

I do all my work to the best of my ability and I have found that my clients, regardless of the sphere of work, are generally pleased with the quality of my work as a result.
