Career / Experience

I am Lorena Ruiz, a professional translator and interpreter (CA, EN, FR > ES) and I am currently working in France as a Spanish Teacher in a Secondary School.

I graduated in Translation and Interpreting (literary, legal, technical, medical, economic and business translation) from the University of Alicante in 2011. and I am now studying a MA in Audiovisual Translation (localization, subtitling, cinema and videogames translation) from the University of Barcelona.

I work with Catalan, English and French. I am also a certified Sworn Translator for French appointed by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

During my studies, I’ve had the opportunity of living in France, Ireland and England as a student and employee which has allowed me to improve my French and English language skills. I was studying in the University of Perpignan Via Domitia as an Erasmus student during the academic year 2009/2010.

I did my internship in 2011 as a guide tourist and translator for a wine store which gave me the opportunity of learning about agriculture, biology and wines.

I am a responsible and organized person who doesn’t mind working under pressure and with a tight deadline.
I consider myself committed to my job, that’s why I personalize each project for each customer.
I am very interested in international relations, politics and culture. Moreover, I am a dynamic, positive and self-taught person who is always looking for new projects.

• CAT Tools: MemoQ, OmegaT and SDL Trados 2009 (Certifications: Studio for Translators-Intermediate and Studio 2009 for Project Managers).
• Office automation: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office Pro
• Software Localisation: Basic knowledge of HTML and Wordpress
• Subtitling: Subtitle Workshop

For small orders a minimum charge of € 25 for ordinary translations and of € 30 for sworn translations is applied. I accept payments via PayPal.
