Angela Smith Kirkman is the president of Atalaya Global, a translation company providing project management services to translation companies worldwide. Angela is personally a native English speaker and Spanish-into-English translator, and has been in the localization industry for ten years, holding positions in most areas of the business from translation, to project management, subcontractor recruiting, IVDD training, and quality system management.

Angela Smith Kirkman began her career in freelance translation in 1993, and graduated cum laude from the Colorado College in 1995. She began her undergraduate studies as a Chemistry major (pre-med), and graduated with a degree in Romance Languages. With a base in life sciences, Angela served as a medical interpreter and translator for the State of California, private hospitals, medical offices, and localization companies specializing in medicine and life sciences for six years. In 1999, Angela joined a San Francisco-based translation company catering to life science clients. From 1999 to 2003, she served the company as lead Spanish-into-English translator, IVD Project Manager, Recruiting Coordinator, and Quality Management Representative.

In 2003, Angela founded Atalaya Global, a specialized translation company providing project management for larger translation companies that wish to subcontract work in order to increase their capacity. Atalaya Global offers project management into and from all European languages and provides translation and localization support to translation companies around the globe.

Atalaya Global offers project management in any language combination. We have a large network of translators representing all European languages. We do not work with corporate clients, and instead offer our services only to translation companies that want to subcontract a portion of their management responsibilities to specialists, thereby increasing their knowledge base and capacity.

Although our primary focus is life sciences, we work with excellent linguists in all areas of specialization. We work within any format, including Trados, SDLX, FrameMaker, PageMaker, Acrobat, Quark, RoboHelp, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, software / hardware strings, and HTML.

As an example of recent projects managed by Atalaya Global, we recently completed a three-month, French pharmaceutical translation project for Bowne Global Solutions, in which up to 12 of our translators, editors, and proofreaders were involved at a given time.
