Reviews of some of the books I have translated:
(1) Testi, Arnaldo. Capture the Flag: The Stars and Stripes in American History. New York Univ. Jun. 2010. c.192p. tr. from Italian by Noor Giovanni Mazhar. photogs. index. ISBN 978-0-8147-8322-1. $22.95. HIST
. VERDICT In Mazhar's (Warnborough Coll., Dublin) excellent translation, the brilliance of Testi's insights comes across well. This slim volume will certainly appeal to American studies scholars as well as to general readers of American cultural history.—Brian Odom, Pelham P.L., AL
"-PopMatters, "Testi approaches his subject thoughtfully but not uncritically, and in prose that is rendered lively and conversational by Noor Giovanni Mazhar's smooth translation. "Testi's highly readable and enjoyable small volume." -Eran Shalev,/H-Net Reviews/ " . . . a charming little book, a quick read … -Scot M. Guenter,/The Journal of American History/ ////// /// About the Author *Arnaldo Testi* is Professor of U.S. History at the University of Pisa and has written numerous books on American history. /// ////// ////// ///
(2) Food and Foodways in Italy from 1861 to the Present by Emanuela Scarpellini, translated by Noor Giovanni Mazhar, Published by Palgrave Macmillan in Association with the GermanHistorical Institute, Washington DC, 2012.
“… the book is blessed as well with an inspired and at times lyrical translation”. – Roger Horowitz, Director of the Center for the History of Business, Technology, and Society, Hagley Museum and Library, USA.
(3) Review by Paul Arpaia After Mussolini: Jewish Life and Jewish Memories in Post-Fascist Italy, the translation of Guri Schwarz’s Ritrovare se stessi. Gli Ebrei nell’Italia postfascista is one of the most important Italian historical studies translated in 2012. …Giovanni Noor Mazhar translates Schwarz’s prose into a smooth and easy-to-read English.
