My comment:

I am strictly going with the Mexican meaning of "pendiente", which is someone who genuinely shows interest in the well being of others.

My references:

DRAE - pendiente. (Del ant. part. act. de pender; lat. pendens, -entis).

la anterior es literal, mas me parece que se refiere al doctor chismoso que sabe todo lo que ocurre, en este caso la traduccion seria ---- the nosy doctor who knows everything-----
