...excitación se adueño de los once. Todos proclamamos la determinación de morir por el Señor, arrastrados por el sentimiento y la desperación...The feelings of the remaining 11 disciples at the time of the Last Supper. I'm not happy with the literal translation of this phrase.

"Excitación" is a positive emotion, later described as 'euphoria'...

With tears in their eyes, agitation took over the eleven. (I agree, literal is not a nice translation.)

How about changing the order?

Agitation, with tears in their eyes, took over the eleven of them.
