Las áreas de interés se pueden encerrar en un círculo, etiquetar, anotar a mano o se les pueden colocar recuadros/llamadas/letreros.

My references:

Los famosos "callouts" son esos dibujos que aparecen en los folletines e historietas que inlcuyen los diálogos de los personajes. En el moderno contexto de la edición visual se les conoce como "llamadas" [para llamar la atención sobre algo], Pero en mis tiempos no eran más que recuadros [exactamente la misma función]. Hay quien los llama letreros también.

Es el mismo principio de los programas Snagit y Skitch.

Se pueden trazar círculos alrededor de las zonas de interés, etiquetarlas, llamarlas y escribir a mano en ellas.
Mi sugerencia, pero deberás verlo en el resto del contexto.

Thank you, Bertrand. I don't really get how this could be done. We are talking about images displayed on screen, ¿cómo las llamamos con alta voz? And what do you suggest for "freehand"? I thought of "libremente" or "a mano," but I'm not quite sure yet.
