Mio padre fu impressionato dal tono tagliente del nuovo capo del governo, dalla forma del.

My comment:

Possibly an error in the text. Maybe it should be "dal generale", which would be translated as above.
"Le completerete" means "you'll complete them (the information)", and can be interpreted as a command: "please complete it..."
