I'm thinking that "moyenne" means something more like "poor", and NOT "average"...am I right? thx

Depending on the ailment being treated, the preparation for it can be long-acting, short-acting, intermediate-acting. I've seen this in relation to diabetes in particular: insuline à durée d'action moyenne

For lack of enough context, I think, it's referring to the bowel preparation before colonoscopy
