My comment:

"vigliaccheria" can also mean something despicable, base, which I think is the meaning in this context, relating to political malpractice.
To make it clear to the reader what the Aventine is, I suggest including the word "political" somewhere in the sentence.

infinita can be infinite, never-ending, ever-lasting too; literally infinite, but tried to change it a bit

Aventino is one of the 7 hills of Rome, where lots of ministers retired, after Giacomo Matteotti was killed.
