partially closed/a bit squinted
My comment:
Not reason to be all that literal. Squinting implies that there is a lot of cogitation going on, which seems to be the case here.

half closed
My comment:
It seems a bit odd to add "a little" before this expression in English. Maybe, one could go for "almost half closed", but that would not convey the same meaning, right?
My suggestion is to translate "un poco entornados" into "half closed" and leave it like that.
Thanks,
Erik

My comment:
Also a bit closed or even half shut, though I prefer somewhat closed, as in my opinion, it gives a more accurate idea and feel.

Thanks for this and Erik's comment above. "half closed" is correct. My problem is that in English it doesn't convey either curiosity or concern. It sounds more like the guy is sleepy or bored! Any other ideas would be welcome:-)

X'x eyes were somewhat closed in what could be interpreted as concern or simple curiosity. No other ideas come to mind. Good luck. Entornados in Spanish could also mean that someone is sleepy or bored, but the rest of the sentence clears the meaning.
