I guess there´s a spelling mistake in the original !!!!
"reBelarse" sounds exactly the same as "reVelarse". However, it makes by far much more sense in the context.
It comes from rebel/rebellion and it has nothing to do with the veils or reveal.

I think it's reBelar...not revelar...details details...even authors get confused and it is a common typo

Thanks Barbara, but it's just his head that's being pushed under the water in a trough. The verb "revelar" in this context doesn't make any sense. I thought it might be an expression I never heard of - unless it's a typo and should be "rebeló": his body rebelled, causing him to inhale (water).
