I would like to have a haunting, literary Science Fiction/Fantasy novel which was published in 1981 translated into German. (The book is mostly set in Germany during the First World War).
The novel is 254 pages long and is beautifully written so it is important that the German is also literary.
There is no hurry about the translation. Six months or longer would be ok.

Text sample:
"The wine was thin and bitter; was that because they wouldn't waste good wine on a clod like him? Or was it that at the Imperial Palace they were waging the sternest war of all - the war against reality. Germany was losing the war, eating turnip, drinking ersatz wine and pinning medals on anyone who postponed the finish.
The Kaiser had almost wept when he draped the Blue Max around Manfred's neck and everybody had applauded and returned to their closed groups of false gaiety and sour wine. Manfred strode deeper into the press of painted people. "Look at me!" the few grams of cheap metal and gaudy enamel called from his neck, but no one did - they had seen the heroes come and die all too often."
