My mum has been a pedagogist for as long as I can remember. She taught me and later Shantelle when she was in nursery school. Mama has raised people of all walks of life: engineers, university professors, medical doctors, bank managers, authors (me), and priests, among others. Despite the challenges, she has always been a happy and fulfilled teacher, whose former pupils continue to speak very positively of the influence she had in their early formation.
However, I wasn’t surprised when a few months ago, she told me she was feeling exhausted. She said her job was becoming more and more challenging, and she wasn’t really experiencing the satisfaction she once had.
