INTERVIEW:
 Amelia Cava
|
Q. How did you come to the translation business?
A. I have been studying English since I was 4 years. In short, Igrow up accustomed
to two different languages, furthermore my degree in languages and my yen for
travelling chose definitely my career, my vocation!
|
Q. What was the most critical or challenging situation as a translator and how did you manage it?
A. I approach each translation as a challenge and themore difficult is the topic
the more challenging is the translation. Particularly, dealing with medical
topics! Sometimes it is not very comfortable to translate them at all ... but a
quite useful tool may be to think of your "uncomfortable" topic like a movie
script and to figure out that translation is already over!
Q. What was the funniest event in your career as a translator?
A. there is a long list ... but just one, actually it is about interpretation, it
took place, last summer in L.A., I was interpreting an NLP conference and the
speaker was telling a story and all of asudden he started "stuttering" and
gabbling, yes, I mean, he did it on purpose, but I wasuncounsciously
"imitating" him so I stopped and couldn't stop laughing.. while, of course, the
speaker was going on with his speech... |
