Q. How did you come to the translation business?
A. I love foreign languages since I was a child and during a certain period of my student life I had a great English teacher. I´ll never forget her. Years later, after having finished my english course, I began working as a Bilingual Executive Secretary. For 18 years I worked for many multinational companies and after all those years, I decided to be my own boss and at that moment I began in the translation business.

Q. What was the most critical or challenging situation as a translator and how did you manage it?
A. I had never experienced an extremely critical situation. Thanks God! The more professional you are, the easier it is to avoid critical situations.
Q. What was the funniest event in your career as a translator?
A. Someday I received a request for a translation of a technical text (English/Portuguese). I sent the bid, it was approved and I began the job. After having it completely done, I sent the file and the bill to the finance manager of the company. Minutes later, surprise!!! The finance manager called me and said: "Please, tell me, who ordered this translation from English into Portuguese????" Then I told him the name of the person that authorized the translation and asked him why he was so upset about it. One more surprise: the man just said "This text was supposed to be translated into German!!!!". But - once more, thanks God! - they paid and at the end we laugh a lot about it. |
