I am a British translator and researcher based in France and I specialize in academic texts; I also teach translation at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
My translations appear in leading journals in the social sciences, history, linguistics, anthropology and the creative arts, and in the six-volume book series 'Convents in Exile 1600-1800' (London: Pickering & Chatto, 2012-13), ed. Bowden. I transcribe archival documents, translate, proof read and copy edit for clients in many countries, as well as corporate and public institutions such as the City of Paris, the Royal School of Church Music, Accueil des villes francaises, OREE and MEF Cotentin.
Well educated and cultured (MA, PhD), and a widely published academic author, I have excellent writing and research skills. I hold the Diploma in Translation [EQF Level 7] from the Chartered Institute of Linguists, of which I am a Full Member, and I bring to my translation work 35 years of experience. My translation and proof reading work includes texts in the fields of sociology, ethnography, genealogy, music, history, theology, aesthetics, education, tourism, visual and plastic arts, linguistics, graphic design, biodiversity and renewable energies.
A detailed CV of my qualifications and experience can be downloaded from my Traduguide homepage.
"Amanda Haste provided not only efficient translations of historical documents accurately and punctually (even providing some translations before their due date) but her own knowledge of the cultural and historical context of these documents allowed for a more sensitive rendering of the text. She was professional and a pleasure to work with."
Dr Carmen M. Mangion (Lecturer, Birkbeck, University of London)
"Thank you so much for your excellent work - you really went that extra mile to make sure the translation reflected the true meaning of the source text in every sense."
