European Portuguese mother-tongue freelance translators/revisers required

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is looking for five experienced FREELANCE translators/revisers to take over its translation work from English and French into Portuguese.

We are aiming at a long-term co-operation for the translation of highly specialised financial, accounting, banking and EU-related texts, partly for publication, partly for internal use by the Bank's Board of Governors (Ministers of Finance). In all cases, interested freelancers must be able to deliver translations to the highest standards, fully researched and polished, perfectly formatted and ready to print – correction of print-proofs included as required.

Requirements and candidate profile:

- Portuguese (European Portuguese) mother tongue
- Qualified translator with a degree/certificate in translation or a completed university-level education
- Minimum 5 years full-time equivalent of relevant, recent and documented experience in translation and revision from English and French in the areas covered by this notice
- Area of expertise: finance, accounting, banking and the EU
- In-depth knowledge of EU financing facilities and terminology
- High availability during the first half of the year for the translation of the EIB-Group Financial and Activity Reports (see http:/&#XXXXXXXX#47;infocentre/publications/index.htm)
- Availability and use of computer aided translation memories and terminology management tools
- Perfect command of MS Word and MS Excel.

The EIB is looking for individual candidates. Agencies or groups of translators may apply only on condition that they expressly agree to allow the Bank direct contact with their translator/reviser concerning linguistic matters (all other matters being dealt with directly with the agency), and that they apply with no more than two candidates (in two separate applications). The pre-selection of candidates will be based on submitted data (CVs, descriptions of relevant experience and references to be submitted on request). Short-listed candidates will be asked to write a maximum 5-page test translation against remuneration.
