English > Spanish: Team members needed, Electronic components catalog, SDLX

Greetings!

I’m looking for at least two more EN>Spanish linguists to join the team that translates and edits a 1,000,000 word electrical components catalog. The current opening is for editors, but linguists will be considered for translation work on future projects, and this catalog is translated on a yearly basis.

All native speakers, regardless of country of origin, are welcome to join the team. The main target audience is Spain, but the client would like the catalog to use terminology that is understandable throughout Latin America when possible. While this is a lofty goal, our team of linguists has compiled a glossary to deal with the most problematic terms.

Linguists MUST have at least one of the following:
1) a related engineering or physics degree
2) experience working with electronic components
3) significant experience translating Electrical Engineering related documents.

Translation takes place in SDLX (SDLX Lite is sufficient, and I can provide a link to download SDLX lite for free as well as instructions). The project is extremely well organized; we have terminology advisers, frequent TM updates, and online shared Google worksheets to get questions answered.

We are looking for a commitment to participate in the entire 4 weeks of work. The project is divided into 4 batches, and it is very important to deliver files on time due to the tight schedule. Depending on people’s schedules, I can give editors 20,000-40,000 words per week, although in the past, we have given editors of other languages up to 60,000 words per week. The files are very repetitive, and I can show you some sample files when we discuss rates.

EDITING
Week........Start..........Due

2..............Dec 1........Dec 8

In order to ensure quality, a test is required of all potential linguists; we will pay 40 USD to all linguists who past the test. If you are interested, please provide your resume and I will send the sample. Hope to hear from you soon!

Best,
Megan McGee
