We currently have a vacancy at our Berlin office for an experienced in-house English into German translator (and subtitler).

The successful candidate is expected to provide accurate, timely and stylistically appropriate translations of complex texts. The translator must also be prepared to revise and/or proofread translations by other in-house translators or freelancers.

General skills and abilities:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Knowledge and experience in using CAT tools such as SDL/Trados.
• Clear and concise translation style; broad general knowledge; demonstrated aptitude for technical and general translation work.
• Some knowledge of scientific and technical subjects, particularly of the automotive industry, and the ability to handle difficult technical language.
• Ability to work under time pressure while maintaining high levels of output and quality, both independently and as part of an international team.
• Advanced skills in researching terminology, language and subject matter.
• Interest and/or experience in audiovisual translation.
• Highly developed social competence and team spirit
Education and Experience
• University degree and/or postgraduate qualification in translation.
• At least 5 years solid experience in translation, ideally with an international organization such as the EU or localization company (freelance or in-house). Experience translating a wide variety of texts.
• Experience working in an international organization would be a strong asset.
• Training and experience in audiovisual translation would be a further asset.
Language Skills
• German as mother tongue with profound knowledge of its grammar and style (according to Duden) as well as idiomatic usage.
• Very thorough knowledge of the English language and culture is essential.
• Knowledge of at least one other European language is required (preferably French).
