I would like to know if you are interested in translating the samples attached. This is a requirement before we get the contract so the client will be sure we are using the right vocabulary and expressions for the community. This translation is for parents of students from K-12 grade.

Agency clarification: feel comfortable? This translation needs to be received no later than Wednesday May 5th at noon (Eastern time in US) Please adivse.

. Typically translations are adjusted to culture, education level, age, etc. Is this the capability you are looking for or do you have a specific K-12 requirement?

Answer: PWCS is looking for experience with translations of documents that involve: 1.) K-12 terminology expressed clearly and meaningfully to LEP families; and 2.) a clear understanding of the K-12 educational system, including general school-related protocols and processes.

Several glossaries are available in English which contain commonly used K-12 vocabulary. Said glossaries include and define both general and Special Education terminology, lists of words, acronyms and expressions used in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) documents, and a list of K-12 terms specific the PWCS.

Kind regards,

Example of text:
Our annual school operating budget is developed using projections of state and federal funding in conjunction with the tax-rate budget guidance given to the School Division from the Prince William Board of County Supervisors. The School Board and the School Division do not determine the amount of money that is provided, instead, we develop a balanced budget around the funds given to operate the School Division. As a result of reduced funding and increased expenses, the proposed 2010-11 combined operating and debt service budget of $820,215,731 has many painful and undesired cost-cutting actions and reductions – all required to balance the budget. The complete list is posted to our Web site, pwcs.edu.
