Japanese <> English: Academic manuscripts from different subject areas, technical research papers
We are looking for professionals with relevant translation experience to translate academic manuscripts written by foreign researchers. We are currently looking for JP-EN and EN-JP translators. This is a freelance position. To qualify, you must have technical expertise in your field. Experience working in a foreign-language setting will be preferred.
Essentially, your work will involve translating a technical research paper from Japanese into native level English or vice versa, ensuring that there are no meaning changes/syntax errors. The aim is to help researchers get published in English language journals and thus effectively communicate their work to a wider scientific community.
Job Requirements:
High level of fluency in Japanese (essential)
Native-level fluency in English (essential)
Minimum 2 years translation experience
An understanding and knowledge of technical terminology as expressed in Japanese as well as in English is highly preferred
Also opn for MDs, PhDs, or Masters degree holders from the following fields: medicine, the life sciences, engineering, the physical sciences, humanities, the social sciences
Familiarity with Microsoft Word
Strong time management skills (you will be required to work on deadlines)
Ability to work independently
