English > Japanese: Translate text on pottery

In early 1950s my wife's father was stationed in Korea and Japan.

When he came back to the US he brought 4 Saki Cups and a Sake Server. The cups are the same on the outside but have different Japanese characters inside of each cup. I believe they are pre-WW II.

The bottom of all the cups says "Kutani" in Japanese, which translates to "Nine Hills." It's a famous pottery area in northern Japan. I do not believe the server is part of the set because it has no mark on the bottom.

He gave them to my wife in the early 1970s and they remained packed until about a year ago.

Photos were taken and split in order to give views of all the characters. A friend who reads Japanese says this is old and can't translate it.

Are you able to translate the writing inside the cup and how much would it cost?

If not, is someone able to give me the email address of a person who might be able to translate the writing from the pictures? Would someone give me a clue as to the meaning besides thinking it might be religious? There is quite a lot of characters inside each cup and each cup has unique writing.

Do you have an address to which I can send a photo (finally gotten) and you can determine if you are able to translate it.
