The Triune Brain model is a way to explain both the physiology and functioning of the brain. It is based on both dissection of the brain and analysis of human and animal behaviour.

The triune brain model has been used in psychology and neuroscience for many years. Understand that it’s not “the truth.” It’s just a model – it is a simplified representation of how the brain works. It is helpful because it gives us a simple way to teach RPT and explain why the technique works.

(To be clear, neuroscientists no longer accept the triune model. It still has applications in psychology because it provides a helpful framework for understanding thoughts and feelings. Our technique works regardless of the accuracy of the model itself – the model is just a framework for teaching and understanding.)

We use the triune brain model because it explains WHY safety is so important to us and gives us insights into how to clear this unconscious need, which creates our hidden benefits.

“Triune brain” means your brain has three parts

“Triune” means that one thing has three parts (like the Trinity in Christianity). Triune brain means that our physical human brain is in fact made of three distinct regions, which evolved differently and work in different ways.
