Potential request for translation quotes from freelance translators (no agencies please)
Video Game Translators Needed
A leader in video game localization and testing, is searching for skilled and passionate translators to work on exciting video game titles on a freelance basis.
The role may include, but is not limited to:
-Translating voiced text, menu text, and other system text from English to Japanese, retaining the flavor of the original in a natural tone and with high attention to quality.
-Ensuring that characterization, setting, and other concepts are retained in the target language.
-Ensuring that proper hardware manufacturer terminology is used correctly in the target language.
-Checking already translated Japanese text for translation errors, grammatical mistakes, and other issues.
Experience of 2 or more years in the field of video game translation is desirable, but not a requirement. Translators with experience in other relevant fields, particularly fiction, are also encouraged to apply. Translators with a long-time interest, and who are familiar with video games, are also welcome.
Experience working both independently, as well as part of a team is a plus. Candidates must be native speakers of the target language.
