English > Native Dutch: Freelance Translators Required from the Netherlands, US, or Canada only

ENGLISH TO NATIVE DUTCH FREELANCE TRANSLATORS

Main Duties:
 Translating and proofreading from English to Dutch
Education, Experience and Competencies:
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
 Be native Dutch Speakers residing in Netherlands, USA or Canada only.
 Possess a strong knowledge of the English language (knowledge of other languages is an asset)
 Have a bachelor degree and/or experience related to translation, literature, journalism or communication
 Be computer-oriented and have sound knowledge of MS Office Suite
 Be organized, priority-focused, dynamic, independent and resourceful
 Work well under pressure and respect deadlines
 Have image and sound awareness (active viewer)
 Acquire good typing speed and strong listening skills

Availability:

Candidates must be least 10 hours per week. Priority will be given to candidates who are available to complete the test; installation and training within 2 weeks after the CVs are received.
Other Requirements

Candidates must possess a PC (MAC and Virtual PC are not compatible with our software). Our minimum computer and internet requirements are:

 Windows XP or Windows Vista with 1 GB RAM
 DSL with minimum download 256/upload 128 speed or Cable with 1 MB


Important notes: (Kindly confirm it in the mail)
* You should have technical knowledge about how to upgrade or install any new software in your PC (i.e. our proprietary software).And you must be open to learn the usage of our unique Software.
* Subtitling translation is different from technical translation; one should have the flow to make sense of the dialogues/script with punctuations. Once work assigned you should be able to translate 500subtitles max during rush time. Otherwise a 30 minutes long video or script would have around 60 subtitles to do.
* Other than translation, one should be open to learn and work on Timing, Spotting, Queuing, Proofing and Interpreting when required in future.
* As per the company policy, the translators need to go through Proof Training which will be long and tedious ,you will have to pass the proof training proficiency test to check on the eye for details on errors and grammatical mistakes to go further to be in the pool of translators.
* One should have typing efficiency in Dutch or should be willing to learn ASAP.
* Adhere to the deadlines and be open to constant feedbacks from the trainers and evaluators for Quality purpose.
