Required Freelance Translators Residing in the US ONLY

ENGLISH TO NATIVE FINNISH AND NATIVE RUSSIAN FREELANCE TRANSLATORS RESIDING IN THE US ONLY

Main Duties

• Translation of subtitles from English into Finnish and English to Russian
• proofreading of subtitles
• Creation of subtitles from provided script
• Quality checks (consistency, synchronicity)

We encourage freelancers to be trained on different types of work and offer many resources to help you learn and work on new tasks.

Education, Experience and Competencies:

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

 Be native Finnish speakers OR native Russian speakers
 Possess a strong knowledge of the English language (knowledge of other languages is an asset)
 Have a bachelor degree and/or experience related to translation, literature, journalism or communication
 Be computer-oriented and have sound knowledge of MS Office Suite
 Be organized, priority-focused, dynamic, independent and resourceful
 Work well under pressure and respect deadlines
 Have image and sound awareness (active viewer)
 Acquire good typing speed and strong listening skills

Availability / Deadlines

Our deadlines can be quite short and we expect you to adhere to them at all times. You will be assigned work based on a benchmark of around 500 subtitle boxes per day for translation, and half a day for proofreading for the same number of boxes. Please note that as this is freelance work, we cannot guarantee a steady workload as this depends on industry requirements.

IT/ PC Requirements

In order to collaborate with Deluxe, you will need to work on our proprietary software. To install it you will need to have access to a computer of adequate capacity. Only candidates with Windows XP, Vista or 7 with at least 1 GB RAM and broadband Internet (with minimum download speed of 1 Mbps) will be considered. Applicants with other operating systems (including Windows 8) will not be considered as our proprietary software is not compatible with these. Candidates with mobile Internet (3G, 4G) will not be considered due to connection instability for download of assets.

You may also be required to change some settings on your computer during the installation process, but our Helpdesk team will send you detailed instructions and are able provide you with support for any issues regarding our software, as long as the established requirements are respected.
