English > Japanese: Romantic Novel, about 80,000 words

Romantic Novel for young-adult Japanese youth and adults, about how children may experience tsunamis.

First half is how Japan youth may have experienced the 1700 Cascadia. Boy saves girl's life, later get marred. Rural Edo Period Japan, fishing village

Second half is 300 years later in 2011; the grandson, age 12, of that first couple is learning carpentry from his grandather. He helps a 12- year-old girl who lost her family and house, and they bond. His family adopts her.

Much discussion about the importance of artisan career training in Japan, 1700 and present.

Very positive, no evil characters, inspiring. About how good things can come from a disaster, such as rebuilding the town.

About 80,000 words with supporting front and end material.

Very scientifically accurate (I give talks on tsunamis, work with the emergency program, and picked up the Japan quake on my own home seismograph.)

I am a male retired science teacher, age 71, in western Canada, very involved with analyzing tsunami debris including house lumber on our west coast.

This is the first of 3 novels on tsunamis I am writing. The Japanese lumber landing on our coast inspired this novel. I am the only one in North American analyzing the lumber in detail.

It needs to be translated by a native Japanese woman, to match the target market.

It will be published in English and Japanese on Amazon and Kindle

Ready for translation mid summer 2014

Language pair(s)

English > Japanese
