Epilogue
Seville 1546 Ad
It was my first day at the house and I must say I was a little nervous at meeting such a great person. A man with a story to tell and perhaps, one day, I would achieve what he has done for our great country. I, being intrigued - okay, nosey! - looked around. The servant told me to wait while he announced my arrival. I just couldn’t keep still, this house had lots to look at, more treasures than I guess any king or queen that held court in our great country. Inside the hallway, just left of the staircase, was a picture of the man himself looking like a hero, no a conqueror, in his armour. His sword was drawn, the blade tip pointing into the ground casually like a walking stick. His gaze was caught looking out to sea from atop a rock and to the right of that were green trees the like of which I have not seen. But I hasten to add that this was another question that I was going to
add to the list of many others. Standing near the painting was what appeared to be the same style of armour, all shiny and black, and atop was a helmet with black feathers, looking pristine and full of vigour as they once did adorning a cock bird in the yard. I guess parading his wares for all the
ladies.
As I moved around the hall looking intently at the treasures, some small some as large as a dog, the servant came through and beckoned me to come through to the kitchen. Clutching my leather shoulder bag with my writing material for the hour to come I followed the servant into the kitchen. An unusual place for a meeting, I thought. I smiled at the thought of the conqueror as he was knee deep in flour or meat. But he wasn’t. He was not to be seen as I passed through and out into a beautiful flowering courtyard, and there he was.
