Italian > English: Suspense novel, 89,000 words

Context of Translation
Under a pseudonym will be self-published a series of novels, based on the same characters.
The source language is Italian.
The novels will be published almost simultaneously in Italian, English, German, French and in a second step in Spanish and Portuguese, in both electronic and printed form.
The first novel is the object of this contract.

Subject of Translation
The work to be translated is a financial thriller novel written in Italian and has already been subject to editing.
The size of the work is 305 folders, ie 550'000 characters with space , ie 89'000 words.
There shall be provided a back covers (three textes of 1500, 1'000, 650 characters), as well produced a synopsis and an appropriate title.

Requirements for the Translator
Mother language: English (MANDATORY)
Higher education in literature or equivalent
Must have already translated works of fiction, thriller or adventure (MANDATORY)
Proven ability to write in the style appropriate to the genre, providing a few examples.

Technical Requirements
The translation must be returned in the same format .doc of origin. The text must be completely corrected, proofed and already perfectly publishable i.e. with "ready to publish" quality level.

Contractual terms and conditions
The translation contract should be fixed fee, without royalties. The translator is required to cede the copyright to the publisher i.e. the translation is a “work-for-hire”.
At the beginning of the work, the translator will provide a signed declaration concerning the total transfer of all rights of translation (transfer of copyright) and confirms that the translation is carried out "work on hire."
The payment is based on the state of progress of the work.
The progress is calculated based on the amount of text translated.
The last 20% will be paid to the provision of the final revised version, ready for publication.
In case of interruption of the work, will be paid the amount of text translated at the time of the notification. The calculation is done with the original Italian text using winword.

October to December: translation of the second novel

Evaluation Criteria
Quality of the translation of the first chapter and the back cover (both should be provided for free for evaluation purpose).
