French > English (UK): Biography of a politician
We plan to support the publication of an existing (French) Willy Brandt biography in English. It's the following book of Hélène Miard-Delacroix (2013, fayard publisher):

The style is supposed to be British English (which does not necessarily exclude American translators ...).
We are looking for an experienced translator: an English native-speaker with very good knowledge of the French language. In the ideal case he or she as already translated one or several books - or has work experience with biographies and/or texts in the subject of modern history.
The Brandt biography (to be published in England) is NOT supposed to become a „scientific book“. It’s supposed to „please“/address a broad readership – people interested in Willy Brandt and German/European history of the 20th century.
Before the Brandt Foundation, the author of the book and the publisher jointly make a decision for a specific translator, we plan a little „competion“.
If you are seriously interested in the project:
1. Mail us your offer. We have to agree on a lump sum for the translation of Miard's book. Let us know if there is any turnover tax you need to charge in addition.
2. Please mail us a test translation (deadline: Friday, July 25th). The "sample" will play a significant role in our evaluation. Download the PDF-File here:

3. Please let us know: If you get the assignment - say - by the end of July … how long would it take for you to do the job? The work must be finished this year. October/November would be great.
