Deutsch > Englisch: Lektorat - Korrektorat eines Buches über Bilinguale Kindererziehung

Bilinguale Kindererziehung, circa 90 Seiten, die möglichst auf 70 gekürzt werden

Beispieltext:
Today, when migration is feasible for nearly everybody, an intercultural encounter has become quite common at everyday life. People move to other countries permanently, either voluntarily or to seek asylum, young people have the ability to travel all over the world and marriages of people from different cultures are more and more common. Universities offer internships and semesters abroad and many companies are looking for people who show the ability to master more than one foreign language. Hence, a high level of linguistic competence seems to be indispensable. According to a micro-census conducted in 2014, more than 16.4 million people with migratory background are currently living in Germany, approximately 20.3 percent of the entire German population. These figures do not yet include the high numbers of migrants who have recently arrived in Germany. In the United Kingdom, recent immigration numbers have increased to 95%, rising from 329.000 in 1991 to 641.000 in 2014. Emigration also increased over the period by 13%, from 285.000 in 1991 to 323.000 in 2014 (Hawkins, 2015). Thus, the dominant culture in a country might change into a melting pot of many cultures, including having different languages spoken within. The examples of Germany and Great Britain can be applied to other countries all over the world, as reasons like globalization and the opening of borders make it easier for people to migrate to other countries. Nevertheless, the term bilingualism raised little interest in the past for researchers because the amount of linguistic minorities was small and most European countries are monolingual. According to the changes in the past years, the academic interest rose but the number of empirical investigations is still relatively low (Lambeck, 1984: 9).
