We are an LSP with offices in Miami, USA and Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was founded in 2011 by translation professionals seeking to provide top quality translation services to clients worldwide.

We have identified the need to recruit for a Translator to work remotely from home. This position has a dual responsibility, which will offer the job holder a varied and challenging role. The Translator will have the opportunity to work on their own range of diverse translation projects, while also being part of the team responsible for finalising end products before they are delivered to customers.

The workload will be around 40,000 words a month. Linguists are expected to work full-time, taking on translation and editing jobs sent by our Production team.

Duties & Responsibilities

Translation Responsibilities
• Providing a diverse client base with high quality, grammatically correct translations which retain the feel and style of the original source document.
• Using Translation Memory software, such as Wordfast, MemoQ, Across, SDL Trados and cloud-based translation tools such as Memsource or SmartCAT, to ensure consistency of translation within documents.
• Researching legal, technical and scientific phraseology to find the correct translation.
• Retaining and developing knowledge on specialist areas of translation.
• Following various translation-quality standards to ensure legal and ethical obligations to the customer.
• Meeting word count, quality and productivity targets.

Quality Manager Responsibilities
• Proofreading and editing final translated versions for grammar, punctuation and spelling errors.
• Formatting of translated documents to mirror the original source material.
• Suggest changes in the flow, style and smoothness of translated documents.
• Identifying corrective actions in quality of translations, relaying feedback to Project Managers and linguists, while maintaining strong working relationships in the network.
• Investigate the cause of client queries or complaints, take ownership of any identified errors or omissions and provide a speedy resolution.
• Manage overlapping projects in a fast-paced, target driven environment.

Person Specification - Skills & Experience
(Essential)
• Native level Spanish (or equivalent), with excellent written skills in English
• Degree educated (or equivalent) in a Translation or Language related subject.
• A good understanding and in-depth knowledge of language/country-specific cultures.
• Attention to detail combined with the ability to work quickly to meet deadlines.
• The ability to manage multiple projects and remain professional under pressure.
• The ability to use initiative in a commercial context.
• Proficiency in the use of a range of computer packages.
• Self-motivation and eagerness to acquire new knowledge.
• Experience working with technical/marketing/legal terminology would be advantageous.
• Prior use of Trados and/or other CAT tools.
