Finding My Way Out of Darkness
It was around 1993 when my family moved back to Herat province in Afghanistan. During the Russian invasion of Afghanistan, they had been forced to move to Iran. In Herat, we settled in a very old house, which was part of our family inheritance and was left to us by my great-grandparents. It was one of the first houses that had been built in the old town of Herat. It had six huge rooms, two basements, one stable, one backyard and one huge front yard with a very old tree and deepwater well.
