Beispieltext:
With the British just hours away from taking the city, SS- Obersturmführer Arnold Georg Strippel, the Stützpunktleiter, or area commander for the 14 Neuengamme satellite camps in Hamburg, ditched his SS uniform in the realisation that he would be a marked man. Torture and serial killing had come naturally to this concentration camp careerist, beginning in 1934, a year after Hitler gained power. Prior to his final posting to the Spaldingstrasse satellite of Neuengamme, he had been a guard or held a senior position in Sachsenhausen, Buchenwald, Peenemünde-Karlshagen, Ravensbrück and Salzgitter-Drütte in Germany, Natzweiler-Struthof in France, Majdanek in Poland and Vught in Holland.
A Strippel favourite in the camps was to rope the arms of an inmate behind the back and attach the rope over the bough of a tree. The victim was left to hang in excruciating pain with the arms slowly detaching from their sockets. If the inmate didn’t succumb, the injuries were appalling. Strippel thrived on spectacle.Another specialism was strapping an inmate over a saw bench and thrashing the back with a thick leather whip.
