Rosa (a guest user) asked this question:

Language pair:

French > English

Subject:

Technical / Engineering

Level of diffculty:

Easy / medium

Word or term in question:

confort d'été

Context:

Just not getting the English equivalent - are they just referring to the insulation?

Keywords:

Diagnostic de performance énergétique

summertime climate control

My comment:

"confort" can often be translated as "climate control" in texts on building specs etc. You're right that we wouldn't really use "comfort" here: it's a kind of faux ami, actually.

summer comfort

My comment:

term in the context of conventional construction vs. passive house construction:
comfortable feeling all year round and not feeling lethargic due to heat; it concerns insulation, airtightness, window ventilation, shading elements etc
