Should this possibly read "in a contested matter"? In this case, I would suggest "in einer strittigen Angelegenheit".

My comment:

Why, oh why, can we not have more context? Fellow translators should know abundantly well how important context can be. More importantly, the asker asks colleagues for a favour and should make that favour as easy to do as possible.
