The German, I say is NOT correct - at best it's not adequate; this is the definition of a spring tide, as it varies slightly from one lunar cycle to the next, depending on the relative positions of sun. moon and earth.

My comment:
As it stands the sentence is not terribly helpful - the point about a spring tide is that it is the *highest* tide (not just a 'higher' tide) in the lunar cycle.
