This is a translation for "password hint" wich is used often on differents web sites (you can test with google).
Also Francesca is right with her suggestion "domanda segreta" but it depends what the hint is. If the "password hint" is a secret question it would be a good tranlsation. But if the hint is just a word or something else I suggest "promemoria password" wich means "password reminder".

In genere si chiama così la domanda che viene posta all'utente, nel caso dovesse dimenticare la password. Se risponde correttamente alla domanda (scelta da lui/lei al momento della registrazione), viene rivelata la password dimenticata.
