My comment:

"die Kämpfe erstreckten sich auf jeden Winkel des Planeten"
das hört sich nach einem Roman an, also würde ich ein bischen lit. Freiheit bei der Übersetzung zulassen, um die Stimmung aus dem Text herüberzubringen, dafür ist die Passage allerdings zu kurz.
