sender's risk; defective original [part/document??]

My comment:

What does the "original" refer to? A product, document or part, etc.?

www.gripe2ed.com/scoop/comments/2005/8/30/0141/79530/43/post both mentioned "defective original" ... and sender's risk is a fairly standard term used in freight forwarding.
