lies ein bisschen im weiteren Text und je nachdem wie "bestimmt" dieser Merger ist, dementsprechend würde ich die Übersetzung wählen - vielleicht auch (weicher) - "richtet sich darauf ein", "überlegt Merger" etc. - aber ich glaube die bestimmte Form "beabsichtigt" ist richtig.
